The adventure of the translation of the relics of St Monica

The mortal remains of Saint Monica, the mother of St Augustine, were discovered near the church of Santโ€™Aurea, close to the ruins of Romeโ€™s ancient river port of Ostia, in the 15th century. Transferred to the capital by the Augustinian friars with the permission of Pope Martin V, they are now enshrined in the Roman basilica of St Augustine in Campo Marzio, in a special chapel.
